​“Mata ka Jagran” is a type of Yagya where one must sacrifice their sleep and stay up all night to thank Mata Rani for her blessings and all the happiness she has bestowed. Devotees invite Maa Durga to grace the gathering with her presence by chanting her name in the form of Bhents.

It is believed that Maa Shakti visits in the form of jyoti (fire) which is traditionally lit at the commence of the ceremony. Later, devotees listen to the katha (stories) of Bhagat Dhyanu & Tara Rani with devotion and sincerity. It is believed that one who approaches Mata Rani with a pure heart never returns empty handed.

‘Mata ki Chowki' is a common religious practice in the Hindu Faith which is also, similarly performed during the night by the devotees of the Mother Durga.  It is vital for both “Mata ka Jagran & Mata ki Chowki” to be conducted by a knowledgeable and skillful Mahant who has the right commitment and training to complete the holy act.
